![]() ![]() I shopped compute sticks and NUCs for a while. ![]() ![]() The more-recent 15W TDP low-power chips are really nice for doing stuff like this. My i5-based miniPC (OnLogic ML100G-51) runs PixInsight with EZ Suite's Live Stacking script while NINA runs the gear and deposits images onto the SSD for EZ Suite to live stack for my amusement. With smaller sensors, one can still get by quite well with even an i3-based system. I used a stick for a while and I just didn't like the limitations that it imposed on what I wanted to do with the system. If I decide to do something else on the computer - delete some old files, download a new driver etc, I have plenty of CPU/Memory to run it. I set up each night running Anydesk with two monitors, CCD Inspector interactively, the SKYX and transmitting my images from the remote observatory to the cloud using a google drive. It's not popular here but frankly, for 200 dollars you can buy a very nice (refurbished) computer with and i5 chip and just put it at the foot of the mount or on the spreader and have basically unlimited resources at your disposal. It is a matter of preferences and you must make the decision on what would work for you. HD on a 10" tablet is really small if you need to use the touch screen. It is easier to see in the dark as everything is bigger on the screen. Use PHD2, Guide9, Sharpcap pro, APT, NINA and CPWI. I have added a 8 DBI antenna to the minipc to extent range. I use a portable router A750 (M902) all on 5G. Mine is an I3, 4 cores and 4 threads, 8G ram, 256GB M2 SSD and a 32GB SD card. You have to strike a balance between minipc, power useable, screen resolution and range. If you need 4k, I would recommend that you use ethernet cable versus Wifi. If using RDP, reduce the screen resolution on your controlling PC, laptop or tablet. Turn off what you don't need running for your session. Check your power settings and adjust for better performance as needed. One thing that will help is to make sure you wifi card in your minipc can use WIFI 2.4 and 5g bands. ![]()
